Find out how to fit blinds easily by following our simple step by step guide below.

Before you start, make sure that you have all the tools that you will need for fitting your blind. If you have purchased a readymade blind, all the fixtures should be included – remove these from the box so that they are easy to identify and reach.

Next, make sure that you have the right tools for the job. You will need a power drill, suitable drill bits a pencil and a screw driver. Before choosing your drill bit, make sure you know whether you are drilling into wood, brickwork, steel, upvc or plaster so you can choose your drill bit and power drill setting accordingly.

Next, mark in pencil where the brackets need to go, referring to the manufacturer’s instructions included with the blind. Take car to ensure that the brackets are level with one another – using the window line or a spirit level as a guide.

Making sure that you are on a steady surface you are now ready to drill the holes. If the fixings are high up, make sure that you use a safety ladder – standing on a chair or stool is not a safe alternative. Carefully drill your holes to the depth required for the screws and blow away any excess material from the hole.

It is recommended that you use rawl plugs for a better fit. Simply push these into the holes before putting the bracket in place. The final step before fitting the blind is to check what type of screws you have and use the right type of screwdriver to fix these in place. Once both brackets are in place, simply fit the blind into the brackets.
